DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH // you keep your promises

Somedays I struggle with believing God is good.
My head knows He is.
But somedays my heart thinks he's not.
Somedays I struggle with feeling like He has jipped me.
Like He has jipped Lindie.
I believe He made her.
I believe He knew the nature of her DNA.
I believe He knows the number of hairs on her head and the number of days she will live and what will be her favorite color.
I believe He is in control.
But somedays it is still hard.

On days like today, I am thankful for reminders of God's goodness- that He IS good, that it's not about me or Lindie or our expectations. It's all about Him and His kingdom and bringing glory to His kingdom. When I was 18 and a half I accepted Jesus as my Savior and from that day I have prayed that I would honor Jesus in all circumstances of my life and that God would use my life to bring others to know Him like I know Him.

I'm not sure yet what God has in store for Lindie's life, but I pray that above all else God uses Lindie to advance the gospel. He promises He is in control and that He is with us. I believe that.

In light of all of that, today I'm listening to this song on repeat: JJ Heller, You Keep Your Promises

Sandals in the closet
Jackets by the door
Orange, red
Life and death
Scattered around the feet of the sycamore

The waiting hands of winter
Catch us when we fall
Is it just me
I can't believe
The green of spring was ever here at all

You keep your promises
You keep your promises
I might not see it yet
You keep your promises

Everyone I care for
Just like every perfect dream
Withers fades
Drifts away
Feels like we're all falling with the leaves

You keep your promises
You keep your promises
I might not see it yet
You keep your promises

There is hope within the breaking of the heart of every seam
And I know you feel the aching at the end of all good things
I believe in restoration
I believe that you redeem
Because I know somehow the sycamore will bloom again in spring

You keep your promises
You keep your promises
I might not see it yet
There will be life again

You keep  your promises
You keep your promises
I might not see it yet
You keep your promises
